St. Barnabas Upcoming Events Page August 3 - Blessings & Bratwurst - One service at 9:30 a.m. Procession, blessing of garth, exterior & undercroft painting. A simple picnic of hot dogs, bratwurst and side dishes to share with others Cover charge: 2 packages of hot dogs and/or bratwurst - one for soup kitchen
September 6 - Thurible Training With Dan Fergueson at 10:00 a.m. - adults & kids
September 7 - Kick-off of Sunday School & Stewardship Kids up to age 10 make ice cream sundaes in rain gutter and first to eat the most of their sundae before time allotted is up, wins a prize. Coin jar contest (Kid's ed & general fund or music) jar with most money representative gets to throw a cool whip (chocolate) pie in Priest Kathleen+'s face, yummy ! ! !
September 21 - International Day of Peace Special liturgy & music - church open until 5:00 p.m. for prayers You are encouraged to wear: tie-dyed shirts and peace signs "May the kingdom of God be at Hand!"
October 4 - Blessing of the Live Animals (Open to whole town to participate as last year) Vet check - Homeward Bound booth
October 5 - Blessing of the Plush Animals At 8 & 10 a.m. services
October 12 - Children's Sabbath Children's art work on walls Collection for the Children's Defense Fund
October 19 - Liturgy of Emmegahbowh
October 30 or 31 - Hallow's Eve Harvest Festival
November 2 - All Saints Day Tree on bulletin board to name saints in parish Altar of the Dead - Table in back of nave decorated with items parishioners bring in - loved ones who have died, candy, flowers, jewelry, etc...
November 26 - Thanksgiving service 7:00 p.m. Eat at the Soup Kitchen, then have service (no Eucharist) either in parish hall with guest or invite guests to come up to the nave
November 30 - Advent begins
December 7 - St. Nicholus Day David Nygren as St. Nicholus at both services
December 12 - Winding of the Greens 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.-cookies, punch, egg-nog
December 14 - St. Lucia Day - Advent Lessons & Carols With joint choirs at 7:00 p.m.
December 24 - Christmas Eve 7:00 p.m. family service, 11:15 p.m. hymn sing 11:30 p.m. service
December 25 - Christmas Day Service at 9:00 a.m. |
