AN EVENING OF GOOD HUMOR AND GREAT MUSIC!
St. Barnabas Episcopal Church welcomes to McMinnville Phoenix based Celtic musician John Good. John will perform at
St. Barnabas on June 26 at 6:00 pm. Multitalented, John plays the Welsh pipes, Celtic flutes and whistles as well as
guitar and harmonica. His vocal art reflects the traditional music of the Welsh coal miners. In addition to being
a performer, John is also a poet and songwriter.
John was born in Cwmanfan, South Wales and received his musical training within the family as well as at Hull College
and Cardiff University. After earning his Masters in Music Composition, John moved to the U.S. and has lived in
Phoenix since 1975. He has worked as a performer and session musician with Robin Huw Bowen, Jack Bruce, L. Shankar,
Tony Williams and Zakir Hussain. His credits also include producer, teacher, concert/festival organizer and
workshop/residency leader. Good has given bilingual presentations on Celtic culture, including poetry, music
and literature at universities, colleges, schools, libraries and Celtic festivals.
John will be directing the June 27th performance of the Gymanfa Ganu (Welsh singing festival) at the Bryn Seion in
Beavercreek, (the oldest Welsh church on the West Coast).
Come and enjoy an evening of Welsh music with a bit of humor accompanying the music. There will be a donation basket
at the door and a suggested donation of $5.00 is appreciated. St. Barnabas’ own Howie Harkema will be working with
John. It will be a wonderful evening. We hope you’ll come!
